Glossy green leaves grow on an upright, freely-branching silhouette, making the Fine Line® Buckthorn Standard perfect as an accent or border in any area. Plus, since it’s easy to maintain, with deer resistance and drought tolerance, it’s perfect for planting effortlessly.
That means our Fine Line® is both elegant and easy, lending texture and shape to your landscape. And you get month-to-month visual interest because the Buckthorn boasts white-green florals in the spring, berries to attract wildlife in the summer, and dazzling yellow foliage during fall. Even better is the fact that it s been expertly grown to have a trunk similar to a topiary.

Planting & Care
1. Planting: It’s highly adaptable, but an adequate planting location is important for your Fine Line®’s growth. When you’re ready to plant, choose an area with well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade (preferably an area that’s slightly shaded but receives 4 to 8 hours of sun each day). When it’s time to plant, dig a hole that’s twice the size of the tree’s root ball, place your plant and back fill the soil, then water to settle the roots.
2. Watering: Water regularly during the first full growing season, about once per week. If you’re not sure when to water, simply check the soil about 2 to 3 inches down – if the soil is dry in this area, it’s time to water. After your Fine Line® is established, less frequent watering should suffice.
3. Pruning: Pruning is seldom necessary for this variety, but if you’d like to shape it, trim it during the fall season.
4. Fertilizer: Apply a well-balanced, time-release fertilizer to your Buckthorn in the spring.
