Compact, Dense Growth and Fan-Shaped Foliage
Why Ginkgo Biloba Mariken Trees?
It s an ornamental masterpiece prized for its compact stature and dense leaves: The ball-shaped Ginkgo Biloba Mariken flattens as it grows, naturally spreading twice as wide as it is tall without any ties, wires or pruning. And the miniature tree retains the many charms of the towering Ginkgo Biloba, including a longer life and foliage that turns gold in autumn.
It s a sturdy, carefree tree. The compact and hardy dwarf tree enjoys full sun and grows with minimal attention. Naturally resistant to diseases and pests, the Ginkgo Biloba Mariken is also tolerant of air pollution, clay-heavy soil, and nibbling deer.
And because this Mariken Tree is a male variety, you won t have to deal with the foul-smelling fruit that precludes most homeowners from owning similar varieties.

Planting & Care
1. Planting: Consider its mature size while planting (don t plant too closely to structures), and find a well-drained, full sun area (6 to 8 hours of sunlight per day).
Ginkgo should be planted in the fall or spring. The hole should be twice as wide and slightly deeper than the root ball. Press the soil around the roots as you fill, and water thoroughly when finished. Try to protect young transplants from excessively dry soil conditions.
2. Watering: Water regularly for the first 3 years of growth, but be sure not to waterlog. Generally, watering once or twice weekly is ideal, or checking the surrounding soil for dryness. Mulching is ideal so as to retain moisture in the summer.
3. Fertilizing: Annual applications of compost is recommended. Use a slow-release fertilizer like 10-10-10 in the spring according to label instructions to give your tree a boost.
